When to marry outdoors
Spring and autumn are the easy seasons for a garden or terrace wedding in Cairo: warm days and evenings that are pleasant to sit out in. In summer the heat lasts well into the night, so ask about shade, fans or cooling, a later start, and cold drinks from the moment guests arrive. In winter the days can be lovely but the nights get cold, especially in the open desert air of New Cairo and Sheikh Zayed, so plan heaters, a covered area or an indoor fallback.
Spring and autumn are also the seasons outdoor venues tend to fill first. If your heart is set on a garden in April or October, start early, or look for a date another couple has had to give up.
Hotel terraces and lawns in New Cairo
A hotel gives you an open-air setting with catering, staff, parking, rooms for family and an indoor space if the weather turns. A few examples from the hotels' own pages (capacities depend on the layout, so confirm with the events team):
- Kempinski Palace Cairo, New Cairo: The Terrace is an outdoor venue of 856 square metres with a private entrance and the hotel's façade as a backdrop, listed for weddings with banquet seating for 280.
- JW Marriott Hotel Cairo, Mirage City on the Ring Road: lists the Castle Club Terrace for weddings of up to 400 guests, The Beach for up to 450, and the Driving Range, an open lawn with date palms, for up to 3,000.
- Dusit Thani LakeView Cairo, Fifth Settlement: the LakeView Ballroom has an outdoor terrace for 400 guests alongside it, which gives you an indoor room right next to the open air. Ask whether the two can be booked together.
Gardens and villas in Sheikh Zayed and 6th of October
West of the city, many garden weddings are held at villas, private garden venues and clubs. They give you more freedom with decor and timing, but less is included, so the questions below matter more. We have not verified capacities for any specific Sheikh Zayed venue, so we don't list names here. Visit at the same hour as your wedding, and ask for the guest count the garden actually takes for a seated dinner, not only standing.
Think about your guests' journey too. A wedding in Sheikh Zayed is a long drive for family coming from New Cairo or Heliopolis, and the other way round, so share a map pin, give realistic timings and, if many guests are travelling far, consider a shuttle.
Sound, lighting, power and wind
- Sound: ask until what time amplified music is allowed. Compounds, residential areas and some venues set their own finishing time, and it may be earlier than you expect.
- Lighting: a garden that looks lovely at sunset is dark by the first dance. Ask what lighting is included and what you need to add for the paths, the tables and the photographs.
- Power: ask whether the venue has enough supply for the lighting, sound and catering together, and whether there is a backup generator if the power cuts.
- Wind and dust: ask how the venue secures the stage, the flowers and any drapes on a windy night, and what the plan is if wind or rain arrives on the day.
- Ground: grass, paving or sand changes the choice of shoes, chairs and dance floor. Ask what the surface is where the tables and the stage will stand.
What to ask any outdoor venue
- What is the capacity for a seated dinner in this space, with a stage and a dance floor?
- Is there an indoor or covered fallback, and is it held for us on the night?
- Until what time can music play, and is there a sound limit?
- What is included: catering, chairs, lighting, sound, toilets, power and parking?
- Which suppliers can we bring, and is there a fee for outside suppliers?
- What happens if the weather is bad: can we move inside, postpone, or neither?
- What is the deposit, and what happens if we postpone, cancel or transfer the booking?
Taking over an open date
Save the Date is a free place where couples who can no longer use their booked venue date list it, and couples who are looking find it. Browse by city, budget and date.
