The short answer
In its September 2026 survey of halls in Cairo and Giza and some hotels, Masrawy put a simple wedding from about EGP 80,000, a mid-range wedding at EGP 250,000 to 500,000, and a luxury wedding at more than EGP 600,000.
Its example weddings make that concrete: about 120 guests came to roughly EGP 143,000, about 200 guests to roughly EGP 437,000 (the hall alone EGP 150,000), and about 300 guests in luxury style to roughly EGP 980,000. Those totals leave out the groom's suit, invitations, cars, accommodation and travel.
Where the money goes
The hall and the food are the budget. Masrawy found that together they take 60 to 70 percent of the total, which is why the choice of venue and guest count matters more than anything else on the list.
- Small halls in parts of Greater Cairo: from about EGP 30,000.
- Mid-size halls for 150 to 300 guests in New Heliopolis, Nasr City and New Cairo: about EGP 100,000 to 280,000.
- Five-star hotel ballrooms: several hundred thousand pounds, sometimes more than EGP 900,000.
- Catering per guest: about EGP 400 to 1,000 in Cairo and EGP 350 to 900 in Giza. Fifty extra guests can add roughly EGP 18,000 to 55,000 to the food bill alone.
Everything else
- Decor: about EGP 30,000 to 500,000, depending on flowers, staging and lighting.
- Photography and video: about EGP 8,000 to 110,000, depending on the team, the hours and what you receive.
- Bridal makeup: packages of about EGP 5,000 to 25,000, more for well-known artists.
- The dress: from about EGP 13,500 to more than EGP 180,000 to buy. Renting costs less.
Same venue, different price
When you marry changes the bill. A wedding-hall manager in Maadi told Masrawy that April to October runs about 15 to 25 percent higher than November to March, and that Friday and Saturday cost about 10 to 20 percent more than other nights. Treat that as one venue's view, and ask each venue for its own calendar of rates.
Hotels and halls quote differently, so compare what is included per person: dinner, drinks, the decor allowance, sound and lighting, and the hours.
Deposits: what to ask before you sign
- How much is the deposit, and when is each later payment due?
- What happens to the money if we postpone or cancel?
- Can the booking be moved to another date, or transferred to another couple?
- Get the answers in the contract, not only in a message.
Spend less without downgrading
- Choose a winter date or a weeknight, if the venue prices them lower.
- Keep the guest list tight. Catering is charged per person, so it is the fastest way to move the total.
- Ask what is included before you add outside suppliers.
- Take over a date another couple can no longer use. It was booked at an earlier price, and the venue sets the terms of any transfer.
Taking over an open date
Save the Date is a free place where couples who can no longer use their booked venue date list it, and couples who are looking find it. Browse by city, budget and date. Every listing is reviewed by hand, numbers stay private until both sides agree, and you arrange the transfer directly with the venue. We never handle money.
