The nights that go first
Thursday and Friday nights are the most requested wedding nights in Egypt, because guests can stay out late before the weekend. At popular hotels and gardens these are often booked many months, sometimes more than a year, ahead. Weeknights and Saturday nights are easier to find and can be better value.
The wedding year
- Spring (March to May): mild evenings and one of the busiest seasons for garden and open-air weddings in Cairo.
- Summer (June to August): high season in Alexandria and on the coast. In Cairo, receptions move indoors or start late in the evening.
- Autumn (September to November): the second open-air season, and a favourite for Nile-view receptions.
- Winter (December to February): mostly indoor ballroom weddings, with more choice of dates.
Ramadan and Eid
Most couples avoid weddings during Ramadan, which makes the weeks after Eid al-Fitr and around Eid al-Adha especially busy. Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year. In 2027 it is expected to begin around 8 February, so dates in March and April 2027 are likely to be in high demand.
