Getting married before Ramadan 2027.

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around Monday 8 February, and Eid al-Fitr around Wednesday 10 March, based on astronomical calculations reported by Misr Connect. The official dates follow the moon sighting. That leaves about fourteen weeks from the start of November for a wedding before Ramadan, with Thursday 4 and Friday 5 February the last likely wedding nights. Here is the calendar, and how to plan in Cairo or Alexandria.

The dates, as far as they are known

The Islamic calendar follows the moon, so Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year. For 2027, astronomical calculations reported by Misr Connect put the first day of Ramadan on Monday 8 February and the first day of Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday 10 March. In Egypt the official start is announced after the crescent sighting on the eve of the 29th of Sha'ban, so treat these as expected dates, not fixed ones.

The Thursday and Friday nights left

Thursday and Friday are the most requested wedding nights in Egypt. Between November and the expected start of Ramadan, these are the ones that remain, and each is a night other couples are also trying to book.

  • November 2026: Thursday 5, 12, 19 and 26; Friday 6, 13, 20 and 27.
  • December 2026: Thursday 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 (New Year's Eve, when many hotels hold their own events); Friday 4, 11, 18 and 25.
  • January 2027: Thursday 7 (Coptic Christmas, a public holiday), 14, 21 and 28; Friday 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.
  • February 2027: Thursday 4 and Friday 5, the last weekend before Ramadan if it begins on 8 February.

Why the last weeks fill first

Most couples avoid holding a wedding during Ramadan, so families who want to marry this season aim for the weeks just before it, and the rest wait until after Eid. That squeezes demand into January and early February, which is also winter, so most of these weddings are indoors.

There is a benefit too. Winter is the quieter season at many venues. In Masrawy's September 2026 survey, a wedding-hall manager in Maadi said April to October runs about 15 to 25 percent higher than November to March. Ask each venue for its own rates.

Before Ramadan or after Eid?

  1. 01

    Before Ramadan

Winter, mostly indoor, and possibly lower rates. The catch is time: about fourteen weeks to book the venue, the photographer, the decor and everything else.

  2. 02

    After Eid al-Fitr

From mid-March 2027 the evenings warm up and the garden season begins. More time to plan, but you share those first weekends with every couple who waited for Eid.

  3. 03

    Split the two

Some families hold the katb el ketab before Ramadan and the wedding party after Eid. Agree the plan with both families and the ma'zoun first.

Don't plan on the very last night

Because the official start of Ramadan depends on the moon sighting, don't build the plan around the final night or two before 8 February. If your date is close to it, ask the venue in writing what happens if the dates move by a day. Ask too whether the ballroom is reserved for Ramadan events once the month begins, in case you need it for set-up or a second evening.

Questions to ask a venue this week

  • Which Thursday and Friday nights between now and early February are still free?
  • What is the per-person rate in each of those months, and on a weeknight?
  • What is included in winter: heating, a covered area, and an indoor room if the evening was planned outside?
  • What is the deposit, and when is each later payment due?
  • If we need to postpone, cancel or transfer the booking, what happens to what we've paid?

Fully booked before Ramadan?

Plans change, and some couples who booked a winter date months ago can no longer use it. Those dates are listed on Save the Date Egypt as they open up. If you can't find the night you want, post the date and city you're looking for, so couples who list later can find you.

Save the Date Egypt is a free place where couples who can no longer use their booked venue date list it, and couples who are looking find it, in Cairo and Alexandria. Every listing is reviewed by hand, numbers stay private until both sides agree, and you arrange the transfer directly with the venue. We never handle money.
